I love when a nursery space is just so... effortless.. designed with ease. Playful, yet simple. And of course, not too matchy matchy .. you know?
This twin nursery is just that. But more. Because it's for both a boy and a girl, the color palette is variegated. It's comfortable, personal yet pulled together.
...and quite clever to use the Sleepi Canopy Rod to hang the mobiles (traditionally used to suspend a canopy or veil)

By now most kids are back to school. We are too ... the school of fun at fawn&forest - ha!
Now that new pencils, glue and markers are crossed off the list I've gathered a fun bunch of goodies that'll make "back to school" a bit more of a treat for the kids.
Fun is good, take a look!
This is seriously one of the coolest kids parties ever -- a Magritte party by Erika of Mikodesign. An incredibly inspiring concept (1 part Magritte, 1 part detective mystery), color palette and use of imagery. Mustaches & clouds!
I love how this birthday party was a working, collaborative effort between mom and the 9 year old birthday girl, spending hours and thoughtful attention in all the details. I am sure this party was a blast!
Sometime inspiration comes not from actual interiors but a grouping of colors, products & shapes. Something well styled. I recently found these well styled spaces by Sofia of the blog Mokkasin.
This was a project styled for the Swedish magazine Family Living - ideas for bringing the summertime & outdoors in ... to live the summer life year around. Fun concept, especially for Sweden! Anyway, I found it really inspiring and love the ease and sensibility of the 1st grouping.

I was recently interviewed by Dwell about the Modern Nursery & Baby. I had a fun time reflecting about the "modern baby movement" (which agreed, sounds silly... but once upon a time it was all frightful & frill!) and picking out a handful of products for the accompanying slideshow.
I was energized to realize that there is so much more going on with modern nursery these days beyond the general overview I gave in the interview. So if Nicely Nordic, Woodsy Goodsy and Big Blue Sea sounds exciting.... stay tuned! I have something amazing in the works that you're going to love.

ever/after designs clothes that fit well. I don't like when t-shirts on boys are too big - wide or long. It bugs me. ever/after's clothing line fits! No inappropriate bagginess or weird fitting tees. I also appreciate ever/after's trademark simplicity.. with ease.
Non-fussy, well styled & fitting clothes kids can move in. And for baby? Certainly. Baby v-neck tees....!
ps. isn't EVER a cutie?!
Do you love online magazines? I sure do! One of my very favorites is La Petite, a powerhouse of inspiration and beautiful photography for babies & kids.
At the beginning of the summer I contributed a simple decorating DIY to issue #8 of La Petite. It's a simple wall assemblage made of sweet little wooden boxes from the craft store, gussied up with paint and many mini found objects.
Dot on over to La Petite now! Issue #8 has about a million pages of amazing-ness (my tutorial is toward the finish..!) and you'll be amazed at how the editor Rachelle slams together such a mega amount of content at once! I'm so impressed.
If you're A Tracy Anderson Fan & pregnant (or plan to be!) you're going to flip over the new Pregnancy Project by Tracy Anderson! The Pregnancy Project is a 9 fitness DVD set for the entire 9 months - 1 workout focussed each month of pregnancy.
Really brilliant. I can't wait to be pregnant again and workout! Really!
