The Coco Mattress by Natural Mat is the most breathable + natural organic crib mattress.
It is filled with coir from the only certified organic coir plantation in the world. Coir is made from coconut husks which are coated in natural latex to make a supportive and breathable fibrous layer and provides exceptional support.
The coir is then wrapped in the unique organic lambswool which is bathed in a mixture made from extracts of lavender, lemon and eucalyptus making it completely anti-dust mite as well as maintaining the excellent thermal insulating properties of natural wool. Naturally flame resistant.

Is purchasing an organic crib mattress worth the expense?

Are standard crib mattresses really that bad?
Unless you prefer that your baby sleep on toxic chemicals such as petroleum-based vinyl (polyvinyl chloride or PVC), polyurethane foam, phthalates, chemical fire retardants and other chemical additives that standard crib mattresses are made of, then... YES!.
Are organic crib mattresses fire-safe?
Organic crib mattresses such as Naturpedic do not contain toxic fire retardants because the materials used are naturally significantly less flammable. Fire retardants are added to standard crib mattress as these mattresses are composed of flammable materials such as Polyurethane foam, which the National Association of State Fire Marshals refers to it as "solid gasoline."
