This airy Rift mobile by Schmitt Design Adrift Collection, possesses a kinetic beauty both in movement and in stillness. Three gently curved elements tilt around an arc that both visually and physically anchors the piece. Depending on the angle and imagination of the viewer, the shapes evoke different forms.
The organically shaped components reflect the fabrication process, as the curved openings are created by a deliberate separation of the two layers of veneer. This results in a rift that is not molded, but created by the material in tension.
