SUM creator Susie Mendive honed her skills designing for the whimsically feminine brand stila cosmetics. Her imaginative designs lead her to launch SUM in 2005. 'I often found myself creating a pattern for a new makeup collection and thinking, I wish I could have this exact look in wallpaper!' What makes her collections unique is the non-traditional approach to a traditional medium such as wallpaper. 'I usually don't think in terms of classic reapeats', she states, 'I try to imagine what would look great splashed along a wall or design something for maximum impact in a small space and work from there.' Her first foray was a series of individual wallpaper panels (Floral Femme Fatale) that can be reconfigured into a clients own custom arrangement. This approach has resonated with clients from Savannah to Stockholm.
