Our new collection combines the principles and craft of mid-century California and Early American furniture. We've combined the refined simplicitiy of Shaker and Federal style details from early America with the decorative thread and exuberance of mid-century California design. We've simplified some classic American details and adapted them to the contemporary lifestyle. The result is a comfortable modernism with subtle connections to the past; pursuing values like, warmth, character, even sweetness...Tufting, turned wood spindles and the wing-back all are a nod to our past, but updated in a playful modern way.
lawson-fenning’s five ahead-of-their-time offerings include the Harvard and Vale Headboards (both upholstered), Spindle Crib, Canterbury Changing Table, and Empire Rocker. The designs find playful inspiration in a past rich with detail: the easy, comfortable, exuberant aesthetic of the mid-20th-century California paradigm combined with the stripped-bare refinement of such 18th- and 19th-century American classics as the Windsor chair and the Shaker settee. Each piece incorporates such beloved, full-of-character details as turned wood spindles, tufting, and a wing back — all updated to suit today’s sensibility. Each adapts to suit the needs of the growing child. All adhere to Nurseryworks ethos of friendly, functional modern furnishings made with handcrafted attention to detail and joinery.
